Milagros & Memories: art exhibition

Exhibit Opens Friday October 13 - Ends Sunday November 12

Sausalito Center for the Arts is thrilled to present Milagros & Memories, an exhibition celebrating the work of iconic Latin American artists of the San Francisco Bay Area.

This exhibition is designed to inspire and share the voice and spirit of contemporary Bay Area Mexican American & Latino artists. The gripping and highly symbolic art represents a complex and dynamic culture that pulls elements from its historical Mexican, Latin, and indigenous roots, all presented with a modern twist.

Each artist’s work is highly stylistic, rich with symbols and colors creating images that are visually stunning and contemporary.

This exhibition promises to bring a new appreciation for the modern and edgy images created by the highly celebrated artists in this exhibition.

Last Look and Artist Discussion with Artist Talavera Ballon

Sunday, November 12, 2023

2:00pm – 5:00pm

Join artist Talavera Ballon as we take a last look at the artwork of Milagros & Memories and explore his work in more detail.

Historically, people have migrated fleeing conflict, war, persecution, escaping poverty and unemployment.

“Somos tierra que anda - We Are The Earth that Walks”, a compelling exhibit of oil paintings by San Francisco-based artist Talavera- Ballón, explores the topics of displacement, migration, and the role of women in the pursuit of dignity and social justice.

We are fortunate to have a selection of these paintings on display as part of our "Milagros" exhibition at the Sausalito Center for the Arts. We cordially invite you to join us for a closing reception and an artist talk on November 12.

The event includes our no-host bar and lite refreshments.

"Thank You" to everyone who helped make Milagros & Memories: Celebration of Dia de los Muertos, a huge success!

Our first Annual Fundraiser exceeded our expectations because of the generosity of our guests, the quality of the art, food, and beverage, and the support of our volunteers and sponsors who transformed SCA into a magical night of celebration.

While the party is over, the exhibit continues. SCA is pleased to have as part of our "Milagros" exhibition, a selection of Talavera-Ballon's painting from his collection: "We Are The Earth that Walks."

We invite you to help close out this terrific exhibit with a Last Look Reception November 12, 2:00PM - 5:00PM. The reception will include a discussion by Talavera Ballon about his Migration series (see below for more details).

Again, we sincerely thank you for a memorable evening filled with joy, laughter, and cherished moments at Milagros & Memories!
