The Sausalito Center for the Arts, in collaboration with the National Sculpture Society (NSS), presents The Art of Form: Perspectives from The West, a juried sculpture exhibition opening May 22 featuring works by 24 accomplished sculptors from across the western United States. Opening May 22, the show presents 39 sculptures alongside additional visual art by several iconic Bay Area artists.
This dynamic exhibition celebrates the power and presence of sculpture—its dimensionality, tactile appeal, and ability to transform space. Jurors include Pati Stajcar, an elected Member of NSS and Lori Shorin, a fellow of NSS, along with SCA Executive Director Shiva Pakdel. The exhibit emphasizes traditional craftsmanship and natural inspiration, a hallmark of NSS’s 130-year mission to promote excellence in sculpture.
A $1,000 Best of Show award, sponsored by the Fantasy Fountain Fund, will be granted to one artist during the run of the show.
Set against the scenic backdrop of the San Francisco Bay, Sausalito offers the perfect setting for this immersive art experience. The Sausalito Center for the Arts provides an expansive, accessible venue where form and creativity come to life.
Visitors are invited to explore sculpture in its fullest expression—from classical techniques to bold contemporary statements—in this landmark West Coast exhibit.

BEYOND THE GAZE
Complementing the sculptures from The Art of Form, Beyond the Gaze brings three accomplished figurative painters into dialogue with the work in the round, offering a compelling two-dimensional counterpoint to deepen the viewer’s experience. Together, these artists explore identity, narrative, and perception, extending the exhibition beyond physical form into the psychological and emotional terrain of the human condition.
Tony Speirs draws from the visual language of popular culture, weaving intricate imagery into his large-scale portraits to reveal the complexity of inner life and contemporary storytelling. Pamela Mooney constructs layered, visually dynamic compositions that challenge inherited narratives through distortion, color, and chance—inviting viewers to question how meaning is formed. Paul Morin brings a masterful balance of technical precision and emotional depth, capturing the subtle humanity of his subjects with empathy and nuance. American-Ukrainian artist Yelena Kimelblat adds her distinctive “Burlap Collection,” where simplified, expressionistic female figures are painted onto raw coffee sacks, revealing intimate moments shaped as much by material as by emotion.
Set behind the sculptures, these works create a powerful visual tension, where surface meets structure, and observation becomes introspection, expanding the exhibition into a rich, multidimensional conversation.
